Atlas West USA (AWU) is a California based Limited Liability Corporation (LLC) founded in January 2008, and based in Los Angeles, California. AWU is a food commodities export company with a mission to export mostly U.S. commodities such as wheat, barley, corn, soybeans, and sunflower oil. AWU also exports sugar, beans, legumes, chickpeas from Brazil. AWU’s first successful export was in March 2008 when it exported wheat to Yemen. In the following months and years, AWU exported wheat, corn and sugar to several African countries as well as countries in Asia and South America. AWU sales topped US$50,000,000 gross in 2008 alone. AWU also sold Durum Wheat to Italy, sunflower oil to Australia and Sugar to Sri Lanka. Currently, AWU has a standing government contract with a major African country to supply U.S. wheat. AWU’s total revenue in the year 2019 before the pandemic was US$285 millions gross.
Headed by CEO and President Samy Schouia, a professional with a Master’s Degree in Business with over 20 years of experience who worked previously in the oil industry and as a banker, AWU boasts highly skilled professionals that include financial partner Charles Carey, founder and head of CIG Capital; General manager Chris Rogers, a professional with over 20 years of experience in the commodities business who was previously worked at commodities giant ADM; VP of sales Ice Arguelles, a professional with an experience of over 15 years facilitating commodity sales between Asia and the United States, as well as Gamal El Mekki, a very experienced export professional with over 25 years of experience exporting goods to Gulf Countries and Africa.
Atlas West USA, LLC is in the process of purchasing a major sugar refinery in Brazil and farmland in the U.S. for its future export needs.
